About Jerusalem Hollow Wines

Jerusalem Hollow Wines is located in the cooler subregion south of Margaret River in the south-west of Western Australia. This region is well known internationally for producing high quality wines.

Jerusalem Hollow is owned by the Ward family. The family were immigrants from the north of England in the 1960s with a long tradition of agriculture. This family heritage is being adapted to winemaking with enthusiasm.

The 34 ha vineyard consists mostly of gravelly soils typical of the Margaret River region. The central 10 ha of the property is covenant protected 60 year old re-growth Jarrah and Redgum forest.

Jerusalem Hollow may seem an unusual name for a WA winery, but it is taken from a geographic feature in the area; a collapsed limestone cave system that the early settlers named Jerusalem Hollow. Apparently it was named after the settlers looked across the hollow and noticed trees arising from the bottom looking like the columns of a medieval cathedral.
