Reviews
Top critic takes notice
Our wines have achieved early acclaim from respected Australian wine critic James Halliday. In his Australian Wine Companion 2007, Halliday gave four and a half stars and a rating of 90 out of 100 to our 2003 Methode Champenoise Chardonnay, describing it as
“very flavoursome and complex in the fashion that Harold Osborne has always favoured; peach, honey, cream and nuts with 2 years on lees”.
Halliday also enjoyed our 2004 Cabernet Sauvignon, giving it four stars and a rating of 87, and describing it as “clean, fresh, light-bodied, balanced and not green”.

Comments from a blind tasting by wine consultant Paul McArdle:
"Bright, clear, lemon yellow colour. The bead is persistent
and very active, ... There are fresh aromas of chardonnay and possibly
red fruits, with a suggestion of fresh lees providing a light toasty
lift.
The palate expresses the influence of lees maturation, with some
complex, earthy, mushroom and vegemite characters. ... Although showing
primary New World fruit, it is restrained by an impression of cooler
fruit profile and secondary autolytic characters. It is well balanced,
without overt acidity - but sufficient, although it would have been
more focused and linear with slightly higher acidity. ...
Overall, this is a very good style - 'Champagne-like' with its
lees influence, slight fruit restraint and complex secondary characters.
Also, it retains a vibrancy and freshness. It is well made and has some
personality."
